Process and Equipment Risk Analysis
Safety Guru, LLC performs analyses, for both equipment producers and users, of the risks inherent in the design and intended use of equipment, as well as in novel proposed uses. Identifying hazards and potential failure modes is one of those areas of engineering in which there is both science and art. The former comprises rigorous application of formal techniques, such as Hazards and Operability Analysis (HazOp) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The latter involves cynical imagination and years of experience in investigation of failures.
In most cases, these analyses are qualitative or semi-quantitative, because large databases of failure histories, which are needed for precise quantitative analysis, are not available. Safety Guru does, however, provide the statistical analyses that the available data permit and provide confidence estimations of the calculated failure probabilities.
